Dredging may commence after 16 July 2023 and after award. In-water work window starts 16 July 2023 and ends 15 February 2024. Marine conditions are subject to winter storms that hit this location. Neah Bay is near the outer coast of Washington with an outer breakwater for wave protection within the Bay itself. The dredging areas are exposed to strong and severe marine conditions. This performance window is during the most challenging storm season with difficult marine conditions. It is anticipated the work would be performed in the Fall-Winter of 2023-2024.
Placement of dredged material from the channel will be placed along the shoreline of Neah Bay. The material being dredged is native material that has not been dredged previously. The volume of sediment to be dredged from the channel is approximately 41,000 Cubic Yards (CY) within the proposed channel footprint. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Seattle District requires hydraulic pipeline dredging of a navigation channel at the entrance to Neah Bay, Washington.
